Privacy Policy

Data we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), date of birth to confirm you are 18+, and the account type you choose.
• Google sign-in profile: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
• Profile details: photos, bio, interests and visibility settings you choose to add.
• Location: the city you pick and, if you add it, a neighbourhood. We never collect or show your precise or live location.
• Messages: messages you send to your connections.
• Plans and bookings: plans, invitations, booking requests and pre-orders you create.
• Technical data: device and browser type, and basic logs used to keep the service secure and working.

Why we use it

• To create and run your account and show your profile to people according to your settings.
• To let you connect, message, make plans and send booking requests to venues and organizers.
• To keep LINKA safe: verify age, investigate reports, and prevent abuse and fraud.
• To improve the service and fix problems.
• To meet our legal obligations.

Google Places and Google Maps

LINKA shows listings, photos and details of places from Google Maps. When you search or browse places, your search terms and chosen city are sent to Google to fetch results. Google’s use of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). Place photos and information remain credited to Google and their authors.

Who we share data with

• Other members: only what your profile visibility settings allow.
• Venues and organizers: the details needed to handle a booking request or RSVP you send them.
• Service providers (processors): cloud hosting and database, authentication (including Google sign-in), email delivery, mapping (Google Maps Platform), and analytics. They process data only on our instructions.
• Authorities: where the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, messages, connections and plans. We keep limited records, such as transaction and audit records, for as long as the law requires.

Your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data (right to erasure).
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
• Receive your data in a portable format.
• Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

How to delete your account

Go to Profile, scroll to “Delete my account”, type DELETE and confirm. You can also email us at info@hellolinka.com and we will delete it for you.
